                                DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FACT AND THEORY..:)

FACT

Event, item of information, or state of affairs existing, observed, or known to have happened, and which is confirmed or validated to such an extent that it is considered 'reality.' See also assumption, rule of thumb, and science.

Fact is something that is empirically true and can be supported by evidence.

A subjective fact can communicate how someone is feeling. If a person says he's feeling sad, that is a subjective fact about his emotional state.  A fact can safely be defined as a true belief.

Belief is synonymous with opinion, so someone who makes a factual statement also holds an opinion that the fact is true.  Therefore all facts are accompanied by an opinion.

THEORY

A theory is a supposition or explanation based on observed data.  It may or may not be true.

A theory is a set of interrelated construction (variables) definitions and propositions that presents a systematic view of phenomena by specifying relations among variables.

  The term theory is used with surprising frequency in everyday language.  It is often used in to mean a guess, hunch or supposition.  You may even hear people dismiss certain information because it is only a theory.

It is important to note as you study psychology and other scientific topics, that a theory in science is not the same as the colloquial use of the term.

Research is inductive or deductive ???

Inductive

Inductive the process where we look at certain phenomena or on the basic of the conclusion.  As a whole creating a general recommendation based on the observed facts.

Deductive

Deductive is the conclusion the begin with a abstract, logical relationship among concepts.  After they had gathered and analyzed the data and findings supported their theory.

DIMENSION OF RESEARCH

My research topic is the perspective of Unimas student towards online shopping.  I use the purpose of a study.The use purpose of a study there exploration, description and explanatory/ causal.

Exploration

This is called exploratory research.  Exploratory research may need to conduct an exploratory study in order to know enough to design and execute a second, more systematic and extensive study.  Exploratory studies often go unpublished.  Instead, researchers incorporate them into systematic research that they publish later.  Exploratory research rarely yields definitive answers.   Exploratory researchers are creative, open minded and flexible, adopt an investigative stance and explore all sources of information. Exploratory researchers frequently use qualitative data.  These refer research topic the review or collect data from Unimas students about the student responses that make purchases shopping online.

Description

Descriptive research presents a picture of the of the specific details of a situation, social setting, or relationship.  Descriptive and exploratory research have many similarities.  They blur together in practice.   In descriptive research, the research begins with a well-defined subject and conducts research to describe it accurately. A descriptive study presents of types of people or of social activities.  A great deal of social research is descriptive.  Based on the research topic on knowledge and research findings from Unimas students about their perception.

Explanation

The desire to know ‘why’ to explain, is the purpose of explanatory research.  It builds on exploratory and descriptive research and goes on to identify the reason occurs.  Going beyond focusing on a topic or providing a picture of it, explanatory research looks for cause and reasons.

 (online shopping is defined as the process of buying and selling of product and services over the internet)

Justify why you choose the topic :

·                       The research examines the relationship between reliability/ prompt responses, attentiveness, perceived ease of use, access and security toward perceived online service quality

·                      Perception of student interest in purchasing each item or the product online

·                     Student  assume of online purchases is to get more enjoyment from shopping.

What is the problem that you attempt to address when you decide to research the topic :

·         The problem I’m trying to examine how online purchases can influence responses student to purchase product or services

·         Whether the student is satisfied after making purchases online than go the shop

Research is the process of finding solutions to a problem after a thorough study and analysis of the situational factors.

Research is the investigation of a particular topic using a variety of reliable, scholarly resources.  The three major goals of research are establishing facts, analyzing information, and reaching new conclusions.  The three main acts of doing research are searching for, reviewing, and evaluating information.

Learning what research is not may help you fully grasp the concept.   Randomly selecting books from the library is not research, nor is surfing the Internet.  On the contrary, research requires organization, resourcefulness, reflection, synthesis, and above all, time.
